The Oude Vaart (literally Old Canal) runs roughly parallel to the Drentse Hoofdvaart between Hoogersmilde and Meppel, in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is an older watercourse — a natural or semi-artificial stream that originally served as the main drainage channel of the region before the Drentse Hoofdvaart was constructed.
