How to Install Tag my Fish as a PWA?
To install the Tag My Fish app on your device as a Progressive Web App (PWA) from a browser, just follow these steps:
🖥️ On Desktop (Chrome or Edge)
- Open our website in your browser.
- Look for the install icon 🖥️ in the address bar (usually on the right side).
- Click Install or Add to desktop.
- The app will be added to your desktop or start menu—just like a native app!
📱 On Android (Chrome)
- Open our website in Google Chrome.
- A pop-up will appear at the bottom:
Add Tag my Fish to Home screen — tap it.
(If it doesn't appear, tap the 3-dot menu in the top right and select Install app or Add to Home screen.) - Confirm by tapping Add.
- Our app is now on your home screen!
🍏 On iPhone or iPad (Safari)
- Open our website in Safari.
- Tap the Share icon (square with an up arrow).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add in the top-right corner.
- Done! The app is now on your home screen.
✅ Tip: Once installed, you can open it anytime like a regular app!
What Can I Post?
You can post a photo in one of the following categories:
Catch (of the fish)
Nature (photos of rivers, lakes, wildlife, or aquatic animals)
Fishing tackle
Ichthyology (interesting facts about fish species)
Ecological issues
Underwater photography
Photo taken during fishing (without a catch)
Catch & Release is not obligatory, but the photo must be taken outdoors, and the catch should be treated with respect. The catch must comply with all local fishing rules and regulations.
Please avoid posting photos of bloody fish.
If necessary, crop the photo to emphasize the catch.
Avoid posting blurry photos.
How do I post a Catch?
1. Click on Add Your Catch.
2. A pop-up window will appear. Click on the Upload Photo button and select a photo from your device.
3. You can edit the photo if you wish. Click NEXT to move to the next step.
4. Add General Tags. Here, you can select a category for your photo, as well as the date when the photo was taken.
You can also select the fishing technique, used fishing rig, and, if applicable, the guiding company you used.
5. Add Geo Tags. On the next step, you can tag the water where you took the photo.
If the water spans multiple countries or continents, select the relevant country and continent as well.
6. Tag your catch. In the next step, you can tag the fish species.
As you type, the list will be organized so that the species from the selected basin or sea appear first, followed by those from the selected continent, and then all other species.
7. On the next step, you can tag your fishing gear. You can either select from your existing gear or add a new one.
Checking the Save to Your Gear box save the new gear to your gear, so you will have it for your next catch.
After you have selected the new gear, you have to add it to used gear by clickin on Add to Used Gear button.
8. In the description step, you can describe your photo or your catch.
9. Click on PUBLISH to publish your catch.
What If I'm Not Sure What I Caught?
No worries! Just leave the fish species field blank, and others will help tag your catch.
What If the Fish Species is Missing from the Tag My Fish Database?
Upload your catch and write the local or Latin name of the fish in the description field or in the comments. We will review your catch, and if the species is missing, we will add it to the database and tag your catch accordingly.
What If the Water is Missing from the Tag My Fish Database?
Upload your catch and write the name of the water in the description field or comments. If possible, tag the drainage and country. We will add the missing water and tag it in your catch.
Can I Edit or Delete My Post?
Yes! You have 60 minutes to delete your post or to change the photo, water, fish species, etc. After that, you can only accept suggested changes to the fish species tag or wait for social intelligence to correct the tag for you.
