The South Sulphur River is one of the three main forks of Sulphur River (the others being the North Sulphur River and Middle Sulphur River). Its headwaters start in southeastern Fannin County, Texas, and the river flows roughly southeast and east across Hunt, Hopkins, Delta (and possibly parts of neighboring counties) before joining with the other forks.
