Description
Mosseelva (also called Mossa, originally Morsa) is a river in Moss municipality in Østfold. It is the main river in the Mossevassdraget watershed, beginning from Vannemfjorden in Lake Vansjø (25 m a.s.l.) and flowing mainly westward through Moss. Just before its mouth in Mossesundet, the river forms Mossefossen (Moss Falls), which has been developed for power production at the Mossefossen Power Plant (1.9 MW). Further development is not relevant, as the watercourse was protected in 1973 and is now part of Norway’s Protection Plan for Watercourses.
