The Fure river originates from the southern end of Lac de Paladru, one of the largest natural lakes in France. Flows southward through a narrow valley known as the Val de Fure, between the Champsaur foothills and the Chartreuse Mountains. Passes near Rives, an old industrial town once powered by the river. Finally joins the Isère River near Tullins, a few kilometers west of Grenoble.
