Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge contains multiple managed pools (impoundments) fed by local streams and managed with ditches, levees, and water‑control structures as part of wetland habitat management. The main natural tributaries supplying water to the area’s wetland pools are Squaw Creek (the larger flow) and Davis Creek; both drain a combined watershed of tens of thousands of acres and historically contributed water (and sediment) to the refuge’s marshes.
