Spanish Lake sits on the Parish line between Bluff Swamp and parts of Ascension Parish / Iberville Parish — in south Louisiana. The lake is fed by several small bayous: Alligator Bayou, Brand Bayou, Bayou Braud and Bayou Paul. Spanish Lake is part of a larger swamp/wetland-lake system (Bluff Swamp / Spanish Lake Basin), described as a “backwater swamp of the Mississippi River.”
