Lake Palourde is in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, near the towns of Morgan City and Berwick. It is natural lake / backwater of the Atchafalaya Basin, larger and more open than Grassy Lake. Size: ~14,000 acres, shallow (4–6 ft), with deeper navigation channels. It is fed by Bayou Boeuf, Bayou Chene, and other local tributaries. Water drains via Bayou Boeuf and connecting bayous into the Atchafalaya River, eventually reaching the Gulf of Mexico.
