New River Estuary is a large tidal estuary / lagoon system located near Invercargill, in the Southland region of the South Island. It lies north of Bluff and just west of Invercargill. The estuary opens into Foveaux Strait via the New River Mouth (near Omaui / Riverton area). It is sometimes called Invercargill Estuary.
