Abilene Reservoir is in Taylor County, Texas. The lake sits on Elm Creek, which is part of the Brazos River Basin. The dam was authorized in 1918 and built between 1919 and 1921. Originally used for water supply (municipal/industrial) and now also for recreation. The lake is known to have significant fluctuations in water level.
