Joe Pool Lake is a fresh water impoundment located in the southern part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in North Texas. The lake measures 31.3 km2 with a conservation storage capacity of 218,200,000 m3. With a maximum depth of 23 m the lake drains an area of 601 km2. Joe Pool Lake is fed by Mountain Creek and Walnut Creek. The lake drains northward into Mountain Creek — which flows downstream from the lake’s dam until it joins the West Fork Trinity River (part of the larger Trinity River basin).
